How does Tagvisor work?
Tagvisor collects posts about different places in Russia and worldwide from social networks in online mode. The search is based on hashtags, geolocations and posts by official communities.
This is the way we compile only independent opinions of real-life users and ensure absence of paid and fake reviews on the site.
Posts in social networks are accompanied by photos in most cases, that is why one can always visually estimate one place or another and take a decision whether it is worth visiting or not.
We update information on the site on an hourly basis, so that the most current posts are always available for our users.
What are Tagvisor’s advantages? How does Tagvisor differ from another search engines?
Tagvisor is not just a site of reviews. This is a place where you can:
- Learn user’s opinions about various companies and be sure of absence of paid posts. You can trust reviews on Tagvisor since they are written and posted by real users of social networks
- Find the most recent information online
- View photos of places in order to get an idea of their atmosphere or, for instance, the dress code
- Create the routes and find interesting places nearby by using Tagvisor’s map. For example, you can see tourist attractions or entertainment facilities located within a short distance from a restaurant where you are going to have a dinner.
What companies are presented on Tagvisor?
We collected 4.000.000 posts about restaurants and food spots, night clubs, hotels, tourist attractions and entertainment facilities. This number rises day by day, this is because every day we search out and process more than 30.000 reviews, so that you are aware of all activities and events that take place in your city!
How is rating calculated?
Tagvisor’s rating displays popularity of different places in social networks. Quantity and up-to-dateness of reviews about different places posted by social networks users may serve as a demonstrative example of popularity of these places in the Internet as well as among real visitors.
We collect posts in social networks 24/7 and recalculate ratings once a day in order to display most relevant and up-to-date information on the companies’ sites.
In this context all companies are initially under the same conditions, since we take into account only reviews posted in 3 recent months.
There are two principal factors for calculation of ratings: quantity of posts and their recency. The more latest posts, the higher is the company’s rating. This is because one of the main goals of Tagvisor is to show its users what is going on in one place or another right now and on a real-time basis.
We calculate individual ratings for each category of the site (“Restaurants and cafes”, “Nightlife”, “Entertainment”, “Hotels” and “Tourist Attractions”). As a result, companies from different categories do not compete with each other.
What does Activity mean?
Activity is an indicator of intensity of posting reviews about various places in social networks throughout the hours and the days of the week. Activity chart is displayed on the company’s page. We estimate average user’s activity for the companies that obtain more than 500 reviews.
Experience shows that amount of posts illustrates popularity of any given place. At that daily and hourly allocation of posts, that can be seen in Activity charts, always nearly complies with intensity of visiting of this place by real users. This happens for the reason that on the average about 95% of users post their photos on social networks immediately as soon as they get them.
So while viewing the page of the nightclub “Krysha Mira” one can notice that peak of visiting of this club (and peak of posting reviews in social networks accordingly) is during the night hours of the weekends (Friday – Saturday and Saturday – Sunday nights). And on the page of Red Square one can see that users publish posts on social networks with marks of this tourist attraction almost constantly, except for the night hours.
Where to begin and how to search? How to find places nearby?
First of all Tagvisor will try to determine your location automatically. If you’d like to be more specific, you can click on the field with the address in one of the following ways:
- To choose the city. In this case mark will be located in the center of the city.
- To click the button “Locate automatically”
- To choose the spot and click on any place on the map.
In order to find all nearby places you can click on one of the categories (below the search box). Restaurants and cafes, Nightlife, Entertainment, Hotels or Tourist Attractions. Or simply type your query. For example: sushi, coffee-shop or the name of any specific place you are interested in.
Tagvisor will find all places near you and will sort them out by default according to the Tagvisor’s rating. (Detailed information about this rating can be found here). You can always use other selections: at the price, at the distance from the selected spot on the map or at the “Best match”.
What are hashtags, geolocations and official groups of companies?
Hashtag is a word or a phrase with the hash character (sign) #, added to the post on social network. By means of this sign one can collect all posts published with the certain hashtag. Many companies have their own hashtag used for promotion – they place posts with the hashtag in social networks and suggest that their clients also add this hashag to posts and reviews about this company.
Geolocation is a tag that displays a certain geographical location of any company, entertainment facility, tourist attraction and so on. Adding of certain geotags to posts on social networks helps to understand where exactly the picture was taken or the post was written. Moreover all posts tagged by the same geolocation give a vivid general idea of the place.
Official groups of companies are the official communities on social networks VKontakte, Instagram and Facebook. So these are the groups and accounts managed directly by the company.
Tagvisor places publications by official communities on the separate tabs “Official” located to the right of the tab “All posts”.
In such a way you can view all information and advertising posts placed by the companies apart from publications by other users. At the same time some information posted by official groups may be useful as well, since they frequently post news, different sales promotions and special offers, new dishes, announcements and events etc.
